Born in Kowloon, Hong Kong where he spent his first 2 1/2 years before moving to Devon, UK.
Martyn has spent his working life in the construction industry and uses his business skills and contacts to drive forward the excellent team he has built around him.
It was during a trip to visit friends in South Africa when he had just turned 18, that Martyn first experienced what South Arica had to give. Later, his youngest sister moved over to South Africa to live and started her family. With the family connection, Martyn visited numerous times – and in one year getting out 4 times. He has made many close friends and explored much of the country. It is safe to say that South Africa found Martyn when he needed it the most and will always be in his heart.
During a trip in 2019 with close friends Brendyn Fahy, James Putland and Clinton Wright (part of The Wild Tomorrow Fund) he experienced the devastation of a poached rhino on a morning game drive. This was the catalyst for the discussions with them and Steve Mulcock who had been on the trip the previous year to be part of something that could help to protect these wild animals in the future for everyone to enjoy.
He regularly finds himself telling the stories of the bush trips to anyone who will listen.
So, in April 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ubuntu Wildlife Trust was born.
