Ubuntu Wildlife Trust is extremely proud to partner with the Hluhluwe rugby club Youth team in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The coach has personally sponsored and run this team for many years and we are proud to be able to step in and help grow this wonderful initiative further.
There are currently over 50 young rural children from the local community attending practice every Saturday. This is a platform for these young children to form friendships, learn discipline and focus, and stay healthy physically and mentally. Our aim is to help grow this into a pathway of opportunity for these children to guide them towards better life choices and potential career options in rugby including coaching, mentoring and role models, and playing rugby.
The team has recently been registered officially as a Youth Development Team with the Hluhluwe Rugby Club and our focus is now to fund crucially needed equipment. Phase 1 is for the basics such as rugby balls, training cones and discs, and specialised training balls, as as well as other minor equipment for approximately £380. Phase 2 will focus on multiple tackle bags and associated equipment totalling £1200.
We look forward to watching this team grow and we will keep you updated on their progress.
